First of all, she enjoyed interviewing people. Journalism was an enjoyable field for the author. It was quite the leap, especially when you consider the fact that Thayne was a sportswriter at the start of her career. Thayne was so successful as a reporter that she was promoted to the position of editor. She went on to study journalism in college, graduating with a degree and landing a job at a local newspaper. She became one of those rare students that actually looked forward to her creative writing assignments. She fell in love with writing as a hobby. Her mother eventually pushed her to take a journalism class in high school. Though, she still hadn’t set her sights on publishing. It was from this experience that Thayne’s interest in storytelling was born. Writers like Violet Winspear introduced Thayne to the joys of the genre. She would sneak Harlequin novels out of her mother’s closet. The author started reading romance at the age of 11. And if those failed, she would have happily become a lawyer. She was more interested in pursuing teaching and acting.
